There is a long tradition of making matcha in China dating back to the Song Dynasty! In Chinese matcha is known as “mo cha / 抹茶” and is enjoyed to this day. Not only green tea, but also black tea, white tea, and oolongs are often ground either by machine or using a stone mill by hand.
This tea set is a unique and great way to enjoy “mo cha” in a more traditional Chinese style! It comes with a striking Jianzhan bowl, a glazed ceramic tall pitcher for pouring the water, a whisk and stand, a scoop with stand, ceramic tea canister, a small cup for “painting with mo cha”, and a fabric presentation mat. It all comes in a carrying case with a protective foam insert that is cut to hold each item securely. We have also included 10 grams of white tea powder in a small silver pouch so you can get started right away!
